Get fit whilst on holiday!

Ugh, your doctor says you need to start losing weight or you’ll be headed toward an early grave. You know, you know! It’s just hard to find the time when it feels like all you do is work. Plus you’re exhausted. And yes you know that exercise and weight-loss will ultimately make you feel better but it’s so hard to find exercise enjoyable.

First-off take baby steps. There are plenty of little things you can start doing now to help you become more active. Take walking, for instance – instead of taking the Tube those six blocks, why not walk it, weather-permitting? And your nephew’s been hounding you to get out there and throw the ball around with him, so what better time? You’ll help him with his game and find you really enjoy spending time with him. And if you’re out with the car consider parking farther away than you normally would. Little things like this may seem odd at first but they will all add up to a healthier you.

And don’t forget to keep it going when you travel! Be sure to choose vacations that inspire you to go for a swim or a hike in the woods. Nature is one of the best healers to be found, both physically and emotionally. Say you do a Lake District holiday and incorporate a number of walks in and around your blissfully idle stages; you’ll come back to the lodge feeling worked but also wonderful.

You know you can do this, you’re strong and capable; the key is to remember that fitness can still be fun.
